Door Handle Designer | Hanson Liang

Hanson believes that many people no longer use door handle locks only as a lock for home, a stylish user will always choose the designs which can touch them to match the overall home style. The biggest charm of door handle lock is that it can instantly improve the taste of the home, so that the home is lighted up from the moment of entry. Designs which can stand the test of time, to a certain extent, they are innovative.

A. According what we know about you, you already have 6 years of design experience in door hardware industry. As a post-90s designer, how did you find your design inspiration?

My source of inspiration for design is actually diverse, from sets and costumes in movies and plays, various element works at exhibitions, to some common objects in life, such as vases, trees, flowers and so on. I have always felt that design comes from life, and a good work must not be separated from life, and must closely related to life, so that users can like the work.

B. Now look back when you first entered this industry, is there any new change in your understanding of door handle design?

Yes. The first is that the design ideas are gradually mature and understand the needs of users. The second is income. In this line, the higher the qualifications and the better the ability, the higher

income ( hahaha, just kidding ). Recently, I have gained some new understandings. I try to combine factors such as the market environment, cultural heritage, actual needs of users and so on, to make some more forward-looking and artistic works. My current works can only be considered excellent, but there is a watershed between excellent and classic, I will try to move closer to classic design.

C. In the two door handle design of this season, we can see very bold designs, including the use of lines. Could you tell us about your design inspiration for the new door handle MIRAGE and CHEETAH?

These two new door handles are actually works that I began to conceive in 17 years. At that time, I wanted to design some bold products with a sense of life and natural elements. However, due to my lack of confidence at the time, I didn’t start until this year.

The inspiration for the design of MIRAGE was when I was walking in the park, and the moonlight was projected on the lake. At that time, I suddenly outlined a lot of water ripples in my mind, which gave birth to this special-shaped handle.

And the CHEETAH, have you seen Animals World? Seeing the running posture of cheetah from the Animals World, I am very passionate and energetic, which inspires my creative inspiration. And I used it in the CHEETAH.

D. Have you encountered any tricky things in your 6 years of design experience?

I remember that in 2018, I once encountered a bottleneck period. I couldn't produce new designs for several months. What a designer wanted was inspiration and innovation. At that time, I really questioned my abilities. Afterwards, I didn’t give up, I kept working hard and broke through naturally.

E. Can you briefly talk about your design process?

The creative process from concept development, design drawings, proofing to the our R&D team to vote to decide whether to make a finished product, it usually takes 4-5 months. I usually start from the concept, look at other different elements, extract the core elements of a product, and then extend it by hand. Design is not only about drawing design drafts, but also considering how to realize the design with high quality, trying various new materials and craftsmanship and other issues.

F. In the door hardware industry, what do you think is the most important?

In our industry, imagination is very important, and imagination comes from these words: innovation, art, and wild brain. Maybe I am a very interesting person, and there are often many strange ideas emerged in the brain, and over time, my design also emerged in this style.

G. Is there anything you want to say to friends from door manufacturer?

Buy our door handle lock! Buy our door handle lock! Buy our door handle lock! Hahahaha I'm kidding, but I dare say that my design will get better and better. Door hardware and doors actually grow on each other and rely on each other. 90% of users’ experience of the door comes from door hardware, and every opening and closing means a challenge. Therefore, I will work hard to design products that match the door manufacturers and benefit more users.

H. What are your plans for the future?

In the future, I want to be bolder and form designs with strong personal characteristics, so that when others see my design, they will say "Wow" for the first time. This "Wow" means amazing. At the same time, the creativity, emotional connotation, practicality, and texture of the finished product are all very important. I will continue to practice and design works that make people "Wow".
